 ONTARIO SPORTSMAN SERIESVisiting Race Series at Mosport SpeedwayONTARIO SPORTSMAN SERIES POWERED BY CASTROL - 2008
This Stock Car series was formerly known as the CASCAR Sportsman Series, but was abandoned by NASCAR as the CASCAR SUPER SERIES turned into the NASCAR CANADIAN TIRE SERIES. Not to be stopped, the Ontario Sportsman Series was created to carry on. The first year (2007) saw a 12 race schedule with an appearance at the Mosport Oval June 16th 2007. The other events were at Cayuga Speedway June 23, Sauble Speedway June 30, Peterborough Speedway July 21, Sunset Speedway August 25 and Cayuga Speedway again on september 1. Each race day included qualifying and two 50 lap races. A total of 24 drivers received points in the inaugural year, and the numbers are expected to grow in coming years.

The OSS drivers will be in action next Saturday competing in three 50-lap races at Barrie Speedway. The OSS cars ran a doubleheader of 50 laps each under perfect skies. Here are the results: August 9th, 2008 the OSS will return to the Peterborough Speedway for a 2nd. time this season. The twin 50's scheduled for the Ontario Sportsman Series has been re-scheduled for Saturday Sept 13 with a rain date of Sunday Sept 14. Source: Peterborough Speedway. July 26th the OSS will make the 1st of 2 stops at Barrie Speedway this year. The next Barrie event is slated for September 20th. The OSS cars will have three 50 lap races on Saturday night, with the rain date scheduled for Sunday July 27th. The Ontario Sportsman Series had perfect weather for their season opener at Mosport International Speedway. The Rolf's Racing crew were at the oval taking in the action. The 1st feature was won by Steve Roblee, and the 2nd by Doug Brown who would finish 10th in Sunday's NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race on the Mosport Road Course._______________________________
