F1200 SEASON STARTS AT MOSPORT MAY 8, 2010

Last year the Formula 1200 Championship had a very event filled season. Races in Shannonville, Mosport International Raceway and Calabogie, with 23 Drivers competing in a mix of sunshine, rain, fog, wind - and one this season even hail, made for one of the best seasons ever.

Michael Iamundi dominated the 2009 season, won eleven races, and earned the 2009 season championship with a tight finish in the drivers points yet again. Andrew McMurrary was a podium regular and top 5 finisher. Andrew took some amazing onboard video footage as well, showing drivers how it is import to draft and finished the season in second place. Eric Barret was the new 2009 Vallis Cup winner for this year, scoring a hat trick in winning the three racing that weekend. Eric won six of the last nine races. Eric Barret finished the season on a high note with third overall.

The Formula 1200 Championship starts its racing season at Mosport International raceway May 8 - 9 in the BEMC 60th Annual Spring Trophy Races.

FORMULA BMW AMERICAS LICENSING COURSES

Formula BMW Americas welcomes 25 young drivers as they prepare for the upcoming July 28-29 and August 4-5 2009 Licensing Courses. Held at the Formula BMW Racing Center at the Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo, in Valencia, Spain, the Licensing Course is the first step the worldwide Formula BMW program. Following two days of intensive instruction by the Formula BMW Racing Center staff, successful drivers will receive their international Class C license and, possibly, a chance to be invited back to compete in the September 29-30 Scholarship Qualifying to compete for a 2009 Formula BMW Junior scholarship.

This year Canadian Alex Ellis will take part in the FBMW Americas Licensing Courses.

Following the Calabogie Ted Powell Memorial Races, which he dominated with one win and two 2nd place finishes, current Formula 1200 Championship Series points leader Alex Ellis, the driver of the No 5 TLM Racing Team Grote, ArtCraft Kitchens and 66 GraphX car, will head for Valencia.

Ellis started racing in karts at age 14 in 2005. There he had many successes. For 2008 he is signed to run Formula Vee with TLM Racing, At the same time he continues in karts in assorted races including the Las Vegas Supernationals. Alex will also be testing in various touring cars to gain useful experience in different types of race cars.
