ONTARIO GT SPRINTS SUNDOWN GRAND PRIX 2009 MOSPORT INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY MAY 16, 2009 SUNDOWN GRAND PRIX 2009
The 2009 Sundown Grand Prix was a major part of the Victoria SpeedFest Weekend at Mosport International Raceway.
Also taking part were the SCCA Trans-Am Series, the Speed World Challenge GT and TC series and the Canadian Castrol Touring Car Championship presented by Toyo Tires. Saturday evening's race started at 5:00 PM with a field of 26 cars. The three hour Sundown Grand Prix endurance race had been Mosport's Victoria Day tradition for many years. Alex Habrich, who drove the entire race by himself, won the race by a wide margin of 2 laps in his Dodge Viper. Ed Wong and Ian Phillips came in second in their Nissan Sentra, while Chris Johnson and John Maloney completed the podium in an Acura Integra Type R.
