FORMULA 2000 CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

NEWS FROM THE WORLD CUP OF MOTORSPORTS- FORMULA 2000 CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

The Formula 2000 Championship Series will visit Mosport International Raceway June 11 to 13, 2010 in support of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series weekend.

The series has 2 Canadian teams, Brian Graham Racing of Innisfil Ontario, and Audette Racing of Boisbriand Quebec. This gives the series a good Canadian following.

The cars are single seat, mid engine, open wheel vehicles powered by 2000cc Ford engines developing approximately 150 horsepower. The chassis is a tubular space frame, flat bottom with roll hoop and energy absorbing nose box and side impact protection, manufacturers include Van Diemen, Mygale, Piper and Citation.

The races are approximately 50 miles in length. Each race weekend includes 2 full races. The cars entered are usually in numbers of 30 or more.

We will look forward to seeing the Formula 2000 Championship series up close at Mosport for a second year in a row. Last years races in support of the NASCAR Canadian tire Series were outstandinding.

JONATHON SCARALLO TAKES RACE 2 AT ROAD AMERICA
Elkhart Lake, WI - "I didn't get the best start and Erickson was able to get around me along with (Cole) Morgan," said Scarallo, who survived a post-race protest that he had passed Erickson under a standing yellow. Video evidence showed he had made the pass well before the yellow flag.

"By the end of lap two I knew I had a fast car that could win so I wanted to be smart about it. We were battling for the lead and then Morgan disappeared so it was just Erickson and me."

"He was driving very defensively so I just threw the car to the inside and then put down two flying laps," continued Scarallo, an aspiring young American driver.

DANIEL ERICKSON SWEEPS WATKINS GLEN WITH TWO WINS
Watkins Glen, NY - Daniel Erickson took his second win of the season and second win in two days by just a car length in another exciting race at Watkins Glen in round eight of the F2000 Championship Series season. The Australian rookie, driving for Quantum Mechanics/Primus Racing, led from pole to take the checkered flag with a close-margin win over championship points leader Victor Carbone

"I got a great start and was able to hold off Carbone," said Erickson. "Midway through the race the car started to go away on the low speed corners and that's when he caught me. But the car was great through the inner loop so I was able to hold him off. The last couple laps we were side by side down the back straight and I was defending on the inside. It was great to race with him."

JS Blog: Team USA Nominee and RA Winner

Hello Everybody!

It’s been awhile since my last blog and a lot has happened!

We most recently raced in the F2000 Championship Series at the historic four mile track of Road America. I had visited Road America a handful of times before to watch my older brother race, but had not driven there myself so I was looking forward to it a lot.

C Livengood - Blog 6

I must confess that Road America was a challenging event.  The mixture of long straights and arrhythmic turns makes for a track that requires a different kind of race craft.  It requires Gilles Villeneuve-like attachments for passing and Alain Prost-like precision to throw down fast laps. In contrast to those less draft dependent tracks, Elkhart allows the less superior to dig their claws into your rear wing and put up a fight where they normally would fall behind.  Alas, this is what you deal with and as a result blocking is something that becomes a reality.

Elkhart Lake Weekend Notebook

Best Race Ever?

The number of lead changes was hard to keep track of on Sunday as F2000 set a high point for itself. Many claimed it to be the best race of the five-year history of the Series.
