It's been a while since we had a whole weekend at Mosport International Speedway. We have been looking forward to the BARC Canadian Touring Trophy Races, here we are.
A perfect day, sunny and warm, with a great track schedule ahead of us. All the club racing series are out in great numbers. We are treated to practices by the Formula 1200 Championship series, the Ontario Formula Ford Challenge, the Mobil 1 GT Sprints, the Mobil 1 Formula Libre Series, and the VARAC G70's and Vintage/ Historic cars.

By mid morning the practices were replaced with qualifying sessions by all the groups. After lunch we had 2 more qualifying sessions and the races began. Unfotunately the races had to be cut short due to a nasty turn in the weather, but overall it was a great day.

SUNOCO ULTRA 94 FATHERS DAY DOUBLEHEADER WEEKEND AT MOSPORT (June 12- 15, 2008)
MOSPORT THURSDAY JUNE 12, 2008

A great day for a Motor Race. It's hot and sunny, the Rolf's Racing Van is packed and we're off to Mosport International Raceway to see some excellent racing.
We arrive at the corner 8 family camping at 10:00 AM. Today is Promoters Test Day for the Grand-Am Koni Challenge Series and the Skip Barber BF Goodrich National series. The cars are already on the track as our camp is slowly being erected.
After a quiet day of practices, our paddock walk and nightly track walk we settle in for the night with a relaxing camp fire.
MOSPORT FRIDAY JUNE 13, 2008

The second day at the track starts of sunny and warm again. Today we are joined by more racing series. The Ford Racing Mustang Challenge and the Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship are here as well for their Promoters teast day.
The Koni Grand-Am cars and the Skip Barber cars are also up for more parctices and qualifying.
Later at night we had to endure an hour of thunder showers, although fairly heavy they didn't spoil our campfire evening to much. More campers arrived during the day and our tent and trailer city was growing.
MOSPORT SATURDAY JUNE 14, 2008

After a dismal weather forcast for this weekend we're happy to report the weatherman was wrong again, after a bit of fog in the morning, it's another start of a beautiful day. This one is going to be a long one for us. The road course will be in use from 8:30 AM to 7:20 PM.
The days' acion will include 4 races, the 2 1/2 hr Grand-Am Cup race, the CCTCC race, the Skip Barber race and the OFFC 1600 race. Also, the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Cars arrived last night and make their first appearance on the track today.
After all that we headed to the Mosport International Speedway for some oval track racing. We stayed to see both 50 lap Ontario Sportsman Series races, King of the Hill, 6 or Less, Limited Late Models and the Thunder Cars.
We finished of the night with some marshmellows and "dogs" by the campfire. Another great day!
MOSPORT SUNDAY JUNE 15, 2008
It's race day for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. Again we are treated to a sunny and warm day.
The track is open at 8:45 AM for practices and qualifying. Starting at 10:45 AM it's all racing until 4:45 PM., a busy, but fun day at Mosport international Raceway. Racing will be the Barber National Series, the CCTCC and the OFFC 1600's for their 2nd races. The Ford Racing Mustang Challenge are up today as well.
For main race of the day it was the NCATS race. This race will be remembered for a long time by NCATS teams and fans alike. The already exciting race took a turn after 40 laps of the 51 lap race. It started to sprinkle rain. Don Thompson Jr was the first to come into the pits for rain tires and lost a bit of track position. At about lap 47 mayhem happened, a huge downpour, almost every car spun out in various places on the track. Track positions kept changing constantly. Finally after a lengthy full course yellow, and many teams changing to rain tires the outcome below was decided by a green white checkered. We didn't mind getting wet ourselves with an exciting finish like that. JR Fitzpatrick ended up winning, with DJ kennigton and Don Thompson Jr filling the rest of the podium.
The rain only lasted a few minutes and and we were able to enjoy the last 2 races following NASCAR. At 8:00 PM the rains returned and we called it a weekend. Mosport gave us great entertainment as usual. Thank you Mosport.

BEMC PRESENTS THE 58TH ANNUAL SPRING TROPHY RACES (May 9- 10, 2008)
MOSPORT SATURDAY MAY 9, 2008

Finally, after 6 months, racing is back at Mosport International Raceway. The weather for the Spring Trophy Races couldn't have been better, sunny and warm was the order of the day. Nothing says summer is here more than the roar of the engines at Mosport.
This weekend we get to enjoy 5 great series taking to the track: the Ontario Formula Ford Challenge, the Mobile 1 Ontario GT Sprints, the VARAC G70+, the VARAC Vintage/ Histoic Cars, and the Mobile 1 Formula Libre, F4 cars.
We arrived in the paddock at 9:00 AM saturday morning, got our hot

chocolate drinks at the Mosport restaurant, and proceeded to corner 4 to watch the start of the practices. We saw many familiar cars and some new ones. After a while we headed up to the hill overlooking corner 8 and 9 to watch the rest of the practices and beginning of qualifying from the comfort of our lawn chairs. Besides corner 5, this is probably the best vantage point to watch the races from.
Next we went to the end of the Mario Andretti Straightaway to see the GT cars qualifying at the fasted part of the track. The cars just fly until they reach the breaking point to get into corner 8.
From there we drove back to the paddock and wandered around checking out all the cars that were in for the lunch break. It never fails to amaze how much dedication goes into the cars and teams.
Two of the highlights were Nick Majors bringing an Audi R8 to the paddock, and seeing Grand-Am Cups' Freedom Autosport bring their Mazda MX-5's to test with the GT Sprints for their appearance at the Fathers Day NASCAR Canadian Tire weekend.
The rest of the afternoon we spent at corner 1 for the remainder of the qualifying and the 5 races of the day.
The weather was perfect, the racing was great, we at Rolfs Racing.com/ Rolfs Racing Experiences.com wish we could have been back for Sunday, but with it being Mothers Day we spent time with our mothers and grand mothers. See you soon for our next event.

CANADIAN MOTORSPORTS EXPO (Feb 29, March 1 & 2, 2008)
TORONTO SATURDAY MAR 1, 2008
We arrived at the Toronto Congress Centre for the 2nd annual Canadian Motorsport Expo on Saturday morning. It was our first visit to the show, and didn't know what to

expect. The show was well beyond our expectations. Congratulations to Glenn Butt for putting on an excellent show.
There were well over 75 exhibitors, including all the major race tracks, race series, many race teams, race suppliers, sponsors and race media present. We ended up talking to countless people from many racing series and always walked away with a greater appreciaton for Canadian Motorsports.
The show has many autograph sessions and seminars for race participants and fans. One of our highlights was the Glenn Butt hosted Ron Fellows interview, question and answer session, followed by autographs.

Ron Fellows shared many insider stories about his career and the state of racing ranging, from the Players Ltd/G.M. series, Nascar, and his Le Mans Experiences with the Corvette Racing Team. He also shared his insight of other racing series such as F1, CHAMP Car and IndyCar.
We managed to take in the Targa Newfoundland Seminar, presented by Rally Sport Ontario. This is a great Canadian race that not enough Canadian fans are aware of. This race gets more international attention then local media coverage. Rolfsracing.com hopes that this race will receive more home recognition in the future.
This is an excellent Exposition. If you missed it try for next year, I know we'll return.
The Southern Ontario race season can't begin soon enough. The Canadian Motorsport Expo means Spring is near and gets us into the racing mood. We can't wait for the tracks, especially Mosport to come alive.
