ONE TWO TRHREE RESULT AND POINT STANDING LEAD FOR AUDI
After two days of summer like weather rain set in just before the start of the race on Sunday. Since the DTM had never before raced at Brands Hatch on a wet track the teams and drivers were faced with a tricky task, which the Audi squad handled perfectly. From the beginning the Audi drivers set the pace. The previous front runner, Bruno Spengler (Mercedes), was almost 40 seconds behind when he crossed the finish line.
At the start the quickest in qualifying, Mike Rockenfeller, initially took the lead, followed by Mattias Ekstrom, who overtook ex DTM champion Gary Paffett in the notorious "Paddock Hill Bend" on the outside of the wet track. As early as on lap two Martin Tomczyk and Edoardo Mortara managed to outwit Paffett as well - which meant that four Audi A4 DTM cars were running in the top four places.
On the first few laps Martin Tomczyk in the Audi A4 DTM of Audi Sport Team Phoenix was the fastest driver in the field. The German who lives in Switzerland overtook Mattias Ekstrom and Mike Rockenfeller and was running at the front of the field from the eleventh lap on. Aside from a small slip on lap 22 Tomczyk was controlling the pace throughout, securely brought his third win of the season home and also set the fastest race lap.
"I'm overjoyed, the whole weekend was perfect," said Tomczyk. "It wasn't easy because the rain was not consistently heavy throughout the race and the rain tires didn't have very much grip on the first laps. But my Audi A4 was sensational again today - it was fun to drive. I want to thank my team for a great set-up and a perfect strategy."
Nurburgring winner Mattias Ekstrom clinched second place for Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline and moved forward to third place in the standings. Edoardo Mortara from Audi Sport Team Rosberg finished third and thus achieved the first podium result in his DTM career. With a score of now 15 points the Italian who lives in Switzerland is by far the best rookie of the year.
Audi's chances for a 1-2-3-4 result were thwarted by Ralf Schumacher: The former Formula 1 driver touched the rear of Mike Rockenfeller's car and forced the quickest in qualifying into a spin. "I don't understand that he didn't receive a penalty for that," complained "Rocky", who dropped to sixth place and in the final phase kept Bruno Spengler at bay.
Oliver Jarvis was within a striking distance of the Canadian for almost the whole race. However, the Briton's tires overheated on the final laps so that shortly before the finish he had to surrender his eighth place and the last point of the day to Jamie Green.
Filipe Albuquerque pushed forward from the last position on the grid to twelfth place. Timo Scheider was hit by a rival on the first lap and lost three laps in the pits. Rahel Frey drove consistently fast lap times in the difficult conditions. But a spin and an excursion into the gravel trap caused the Swiss to drop to the rear of the field. Miguel Molina was forced to retire due to a damaged suspension as a result of an accident in which he was not at fault.
"The whole squad did a tremendous job today and made exactly the right decisions for the wet race," commented Head of Audi Motorsport Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich. "That was no easy feat as the DTM has never raced in rain at Brands Hatch before. We clearly had an advantage in the race today. Our drivers did a great job and in the end racers from all our teams were on the podium - today we've got every reason to celebrate."
For Audi this marked as much as the fifth victory, clinched at the seventh race. The next round will be held two weeks from now at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. Martin Tomczyk will travel to the venue with a one-point advantage over Bruno Spengler. Mattias Ekstrom, Timo Scheider and Mike Rockenfeller still have theoretical chances for the title as well.

MATTIAS EKSTROM WINS AT THE NURBURGRING
Mercedes Benz driver Bruno Spengler was also overjoyed. On the penultimate lap of the race, he overtook Mike Rockenfeller after a great duel and still ended up second. Thus, the Canadian prevented a 1-2 for Audi. Spengler remains in the lead of the drivers' standings and now has a total of 47 points. " My car was perfect and I noticed that Mike was having some problems. Then he made a mistake and I was able to get past. I had bad luck in qualifying, but today, I had luck. Eight points are a great score after fourth place on the grid" , said a happy Spengler.
In an action packed race, Timo Scheider showed a great recovery with his Audi A4 DTM, moving up four places to finish fourth. His fellow Audi driver Martin Tomczyk, Spengler's main rival in the battle for the title, converted seventh place on the grid into fifth place at the finish. The best-placed driver of a 2008-spec car was rewarded with four points. In the drivers' standings, Tomczyk is seven points down on Spengler. Scheider is ranked third with 29 points.
British driver Jamie Green had a poor start and dropped back from second to sixth place. That was also the position in which the Mercedes-Benz driver crossed the finish line. DTM rookie Edoardo Mortara (Audi) from Italy was classified seventh and thus scored championship points for the third time this season already.
The two ex-Formula 1 drivers Ralf Schumacher and David Coulthard (both Mercedes-Benz) caused discussion at the start of the race. After two subsequent collisions, Schumacher retired, Coulthard crossed the finish line in 17th place. The stewards gave both drivers a penalty, suspended for the next race. In case of a further infringement, the driver involved will be dropped three places on the starting grid for the following event.
A total of 86,500 spectators attended the DTM race weekend in the Eifel.

BRUNO SPENGLER WINS DTM EVENT IN OLYMPIASADION MUNICH
Munich - End game atmosphere in Munich's Olympiastadion. In head to head duels at the 1.192 kilometres long track, the 18 DTM drivers showed the spectators thrilling motorsport action. Mercedes-Benz driver Bruno Spengler made it all the way from the round of the last 16 to the finale and won the decisive battle against Audi driver Edoardo Mortara, who had been unbeaten until then. "This is just fantastic. Winning in front of so many people and in such an incredible atmosphere is simply great. For five seconds, I felt like being on a different planet. I was having great fun", the 27-year old winner said. On his way to the overall win, Spengler had beaten, next to his final opponent Mortara, his fellow Mercedes-Benz drivers Christian Vietoris and Jamie Green and Miguel Molina (Audi). Mortara defeated Renger van der Zande, David Coulthard and Susie Stoddart (all Mercedes-Benz). Vietoris and Van der Zande were tied in third place. While the drivers had to complete three laps in the round of the last 16 and four laps with a pit stop in the quarter and semi finals, the finale was scheduled for two heats of five laps with one pit stop each. When Mortara hit the wall and damaged his car, the finale was stopped and Spengler had secured victory. "I have given everything and I only made one mistake throughout the weekend. Too bad that it happened in the finale. That was it. But it also shows that we are on the limit all the time and that a little mistake can have a huge effect. Still, I have enjoyed the weekend in Munich very much", Italian driver Mortara said.
The DTM's premiere in a stadium was a huge success. 54,000 fans over the weekend wanted to see the most popular international touring car series live and trekked to the Olympiapark. Motorsport up close was the motto. The DTM drivers were approachable as ever, took part in autograph sessions and were available for personal souvenir photos. Demonstration rides with the Mercedes GP and Red Bull Racing Formula 1 cars also provided Formula 1 feeling in the Bavarian capital. Nico Rosberg also enjoyed the extraordinary atmosphere and thrilled the fans with doughnuts and loud engine sounds. Swedish top act Mando Diao, Kensington Road and the old rock stars of The Rattles were the musical highlights of the DTM event.
Numerous VIP guests followed the stadium action that was presented in an entertaining way by Christina Surer and comedian Atze Schroeder. While the creative director of Disney and Pixar (among others 'Cars'), John Lasseter, enjoyed a passenger ride with a race taxi on Saturday, football world cup winners Andreas Brehme and Karl-Heinz Riedle were behind the wheel themselves as they took part in a VIP race of the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup. Riedle came out on top and left the Olympiastadion as the winner, just like he had done after the 1990 World Cup Final in Rome. Ex Formula 1 and DTM driver Mika Hakkinen, actor Bettina Zimmermann and Bayern Munich's new signing and keeper of the German national team, Manuel Neuer, visited the DTM event in Munich. "This is my first visit to the Olympiastadion. Unfortunately, I have never played here. Too bad, as the atmosphere is great", said Neuer.

CIRCUIT PARK ZANDVOORT
ZANDVOORT, NETHERLANDS, MAY 15, 2011
MIKE ROCKENFELLER GETS 1ST DTM WIN
He had to wait for this victory quite long. In his 44th DTM race, Mike Rockenfeller scored his maiden victory. The 27 year old Audi driver from the German village of Neuwied started from third place on the grid into the second round of the 2011 DTM season at Zandvoort in The Netherlands, showed an error free race with a perfect pit stop strategy and crossed the finish line as the winner after 41 laps. "I am relieved. Hockenheim was very frustrating after a good qualifying and the poor race. Fortunately, we have found the problem and solved it. The result was a good qualifying and a great race. Today, the foundation was the start, plus two excellent stops and a good pace", an overjoyed Rockenfeller said.Points' leader Bruno Spengler with the AMG Mercedes C-Class finished second in the first foreign round of the current DTM season. Spengler started from pole position, but lost his first place after the first of two mandatory pit stops. At the finish, he just stayed ahead of third-placed Martin Tomczyk with his Audi A4 DTM in a fascinating battle. "Unfortunately, we have given victory away. Up to the first stop, the pace was good and I was able to pull clear from Mike. After the stop, however, Mike was ahead of me and wasn't able to follow him anymore. Nevertheless, it isn't a bad day. Finishing second at Zandvoort is something I haven't achieved so far", said Spengler, who won the season opener at Hockenheim and was able to extend his points' lead in the overall standings.
In third place, Martin Tomczyk became the best placed driver of a 2008 spec car and thrilled the spectators with spirited attacks and overtaking manoeuvres. His efforts were rewarded. In the points' standings, he is currently third behind Rockenfeller.
British driver Jamie Green lost his second place at the start and was also overtaken by Tomczyk during the race. The Mercedes-Benz driver finished fourth ahead of two times' DTM champion Timo Scheider (Audi). Audi driver Edoardo Mortara from Italy already scored his first ever championship points by finishing sixth in his second race. CANADIAN BRUNO SPENGLER WINS HOCKENHEIM

MATTIAS EKSTROEM, BRUNO SPENGLER, RALF SCHUMACHER
Canadian Bruno Spengler has made his first mark of the 2011 DTM season. Having claimed pole position on Saturday, the 27 year old Mercedes-Benz driver achieved a dominant lights to flag victory in the season opener at Hockenheim. "I am very happy and I am looking forward to celebrating together with my team today. The start of the season is already very good, but there are still many races to come and one has to remain realistic", the race winner said.
A three way battle for the remaining podium positions between Swedish Audi driver Mattias Ekstroem, Ralf Schumacher with the AMG Mercedes C-Class and Timo Scheider (Audi) just before the end of the race was a thrilling finale. In spite of problems on his car, Ekstroem still had the upper hand with a margin of 187 thousandths of a second and ended up second. Schumacher claimed his maiden podium finish in his 33rd DTM race.
"I am very happy with second place. Due to my broken hand, I ran out of power towards the end of the race and I am very happy that I was able to hang on to my position. Too bad that my wife and our newly born son Mats couldn't be here", Ekstroem said after the race. Ralf Schumacher also came to the post race interview with a wide grin on his face. "I thank Mercedes-Benz and my mechanics for their patience. For them, things weren't always easy. Finally, I have made it onto the podium", the satisfied German said and added: "Keeping up with my fellow Mercedes-Benz drivers always has been my goal and it still is. Now, I am on the right way to do so."
In fourth place, two times' DTM champion Scheider only just missed out on a podium finish, but still managed to score five points for the drivers' standings. He was followed home by his fellow Audi driver Martin Tomczyk in fifth place, making Tomczyk the best placed driver of a 2008 spec car. British driver Gary Paffett showed a great recovery. Following an error in qualifying, the Mercedes-Benz driver had to start from the back of the 18 car grid, but after 38 laps and 173.812 kilometres, he finished sixth ahead of his fellow Mercedes-Benz drivers Jamie Green and Maro Engel.
With the AMG Mercedes C-Class, German driver Christian Vietoris became the best-placed DTM rookie at Hockenheim. In his maiden DTM race, the 22 year old finished 13th, followed by two further novices: Edoardo Mortara and Rahel Frey (both Audi) took the chequered flag in 14th and 15th place respectively.
In the drivers' standings, Spengler is leading with ten points from Ekstroem (8 points) and Schumacher (6 points). The second DTM race weekend of the year takes place at Zandvoort in The Netherlands from May 13th till 15th.
