A great racing series presently racing only on New York State tracks. Hopefully we will see there return to Southern Ontario tracks.

THE CUP LITES RACING SERIES
(NORTHERN SERIES)
In 1989 Tim Bender, NASCAR Busch Series driver and owner of Bender Racing Inc., the YAMAHA Factory's Official Performance Parts Company, started building 3/4 scale Winston Cup like stock cars. Tim put the Cup Lites on hold for several year while his Busch Series career flurished. By 1998 Tim Bender Race Cars Inc. had 30 30 Cup Lites Race Cars for a 12 race touring season in New York and Ontario. In 2007 Cup Lites had a 15 race schedule on road and oval courses. They were racing at Mosport Road Course, Cayuga International Speedway, Lancaster Motorsports Park, Peterborough Speedway, Holland Speedway, Mosport Oval, Deleware Speedway and Oswego Speedway.
In 2008 we had 18 Drivers in 14 cars getting points.
This year the Cup Lites will visit 5 race tracks in their 14 race schedule. These scaled down NASCAR Cup cars are alway fun to watch in action. Come out and see them!

SCOTT WYLIE DOMINATES THE DEBBIE GRAFF MEMORIAL
In the first of the Debbie Graff Memorial Twin 30's for the Cup Lites Series, Scott Wylie overcame some clutch troubles in his Direct Buy Chevrolet to slip by Dave Whittaker for the lead just two laps from the finish of the caution-free race. Whittaker, who had led from the opening green, then held off furious last lap charges from Mark Hoch and Dan Tybor for the runner-up slot.
In the nightcap 30, Wylie snared the top spot on lap 13, but was unable to shake Glenn Attanasio, who was shadowing him throughout. Atttanasio kept it close, but was unable to get a good run on Wylie and had to settle for a second place finish, while Hoch took another third.

AUGUST 8th RACING PROGRAM RAINED OUT
A late afternoon steady rain with the promise of more to come forced the cancellation of the scheduled racing program at the Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex on Saturday, August 8th.
The decision was made at approximately 5:30 pm.
The featured Debbie Graff Memorial race for the Cup Lites Series will be re-scheduled to a future date to be determined.
EVENT 7 - SPENCER SPEEDWAY WILLIAMSON, NY, July 31, 2009
ANOTHER WIN FOR SCOTT WYLIE
The Cup Lite 30-lap main event saw fifth place starter, Jeremy Ratajczyk shoot through the pack to claim the lead, as the inside lane seemed to advance quicker. Ratajczyk couldn’t maintain his lead, as Scott Wylie soared by him into the lead on the second lap. By lap three the race was taking shape as Dan Tybor took second from Ratajczyk. On lap six, Mark Hoch moved by Ratajczyk for third.
The only incident in the race came on lap 17 when Chris Bosch looped his 'Dodge' in the second turn. Jeff Moorehouse seemed content sitting in fourth until there were just ten laps to go. He swung around Hoch and started to chase down the leaders. At the finish it would be Wylie followed by Tybor, Moorehouse, Mark Hoch and John Bosch. It was Wylie second win of the year at Spencer.

SCOTT WYLIE TOOK THE CHECKERED IN THE FEATURE
The Cup Lites Racing Series, though light in number, ran a caution-free feature that developed into a heartbreaker for one and a heart maker for another. Mark Hoch and Jeremy Ratajczyk made up the front row for the start of the 30-lap feature. While Hoch led, Scott Wylie made a bold 3-wide move between Dan Tybor and Ratajczyk for 2nd. By the halfway point he had reeled in Tybor and led lap 23 by inches. Tybor fought back and reclaimed the lead. As the pair entered turn 2 for the final time Tybor ran high, lost the handle, and tagged the foam barrier. The race ended under yellow and checkered flags, with Wylie having Lady Luck on his side.

JEFF MOOREHOUSE TAKES WIN AT SHANGRI-LA II
The Cup Lites had a caution filled 35 lap feature event. Mark Hoch and Gary Walker lead the field to the green flag. Hoch lead the opening laps but was passed by Jeff Moorehouse on the back straight on lap 10.
The first caution came out on lap 8 as Chris Bosch hit the wall off turn 4. The caution came out for debris on lap 19. The green was back out on lap 20 but was short lived as Gary Walker hit the wall in turn 4. Moorehouse lead the field back to the green and Scott Wylie was on the charge looking to get around Moorehouse.
The final caution came out on lap 28 when Mark Hoch spun off turn 2. Moorehouse went on to score the win over Scott Wylie and Daniel Tybor.

SCOTT WYLIE WINS SEASON OPENER
The Cup Lites were at Spencer Speedway for their season opening race. A number of cars were not able to make the first race of the season, so Cup Lite officials shortened their race to just 30-laps.
At the green it was Jason Keen blasting into the lead and stretching out a five car advantage over Gary Walker and Scott Wylie, who battled side by side for second. Lap eight saw a shake up in the running order as Wylie settled into second and Jeff Moorehouse tried to take third from Gary Walker. It would take Moorehouse five more laps to complete his pass for position.
In the mean time, Wylie caught Jason Keen and passed him for the lead on lap 12. The running order would remain pretty much the same for the final laps, with the exception of Moorehouse who was constantly challenging for position. On the final lap Moorehouse pulled to the inside of Keen down the back stretch and was able to take second from him at the finish line. Dan Tybor and Walker rounded out the top five finishers.
Blasdell, New York's Scott Wylie's best Spencer finish before this was a third.
