CUP LITES RACING SERIES - 2008Visiting Race Series at Mosport Speedway and Mosport International Raceway
THE CUP LITES RACING SERIES
(NORTHERN SERIES)
In 1989 Tim Bender, NASCAR Busch Series driver and owner of Bender Racing Inc., the YAMAHA Factory's Official Performance Parts Company, started building 3/4 scale Winston Cup like stock cars. Tim put the Cup Lites on hold for several year while his Busch Series career flurished. By 1998 Tim Bender Race Cars Inc. had 30 30 Cup Lites Race Cars for a 12 race touring season in New York and Ontario. In 2007 Cup Lites had a 15 race schedule on road and oval courses. They were racing at Mosport Road Course, Cayuga International Speedway, Lancaster Motorsports Park, Peterborough Speedway, Holland Speedway, Mosport Oval, Deleware Speedway and Oswego Speedway.
These scaled down NASCAR Cup cars are alway fun to watch in action. Come out and see them!
2008 CUP - LITES SCHEDULE (NORTHERN SERIES)
As the season progresses, due to infighting and low car counts the schedule keeps changing. Stay tuned for possible further changes to the schedule. We hope that everything gets sorted out quickly, as we hate to see what used to be a great series disappear.

RACES CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER
Due to exceedingly wet grounds and the promise of more rain later on Saturday, the scheduled final program of the season at the Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex on Saturday, September 13th has been called off. Because of potential scheduling conflicts with the Race of Champions at Oswego Speedway on the weekend of September 20th, and with the US Open at Dunn Tire Raceway Park on the weekend of September 27th, this program will not be made up. EVENT 9 - HOLLAND SPEEDWAY HOLLAND, NEW YORK, AUGUST 16, 2008
JEFF MOORHOUSE WINS 35 LAP BARNBURNER
The 35 lap feature race for the visiting Cup Lites Series ended in some controversy. Taylor Holdaway had opened up a huge lead, but Scott Wylie, after finally getting by Bobby Holmes for second on lap 27, began to chase down Holdaway. Wylie caught Holdaway at the white flag, and as the pair raced into turn three on the last lap, Wylie made a move to the inside - contact ensued, and both cars got out of shape. Wylie recovered, and dashed to the finish line just ahead of the side-by-side pair of Jeff Moorhouse and Bobby Holmes, while Holdaway straightened out the cross the line fourth. Cup Lites officials determined that Wylie should be placed behind Holdaway in the final order, putting the Atthouse Racing/Hose of Bounce ride of Moorhouse (who just edged Holmes at the line) into victory lane.
