THE CANADIAN RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP
In 2010 the Canadian Rally Championship enters its 53nd year of racing in Canada.
The Canadian Rally Championship rallies are made up of special stages (controlled and monitored roads) and transits (on public roads) where time penalties determine the finishing order. The lowest total time taken on the stage portions of the rally combined with any time penalties on transits determine the winner of the rally. The rallies are organized by member clubs in the area where they take place. The Canadian Rally Championship is currently made up of six events.
The teams are made up of a driver and a co-driver and they compete in one of several vehicle classes. (Open- usually made up of 4WD, turbo vehicles; Group 2- an open class for normally aspirated 2WD vehicles ; Group N- an FIA world class for production vehicles; and Production Class-where vehicles are divided into 4 sub classes (P1, P2, P3 and P4) based on adjusted displacement limits and are allowed modifications only to improve reliability and safety.

A great win for Richard and Ockwell who flipped their car in the final stage.

"I was relaxed and just lost concentration a bit," said Richard. He clipped the inside of a right hand corner, rolling the car slowly. "We flipped into the trees and then back onto the road."
"A win is a win, but this is pretty embarassing," said Richard after the event.

CALGARY, ALBERTA, MAY 28 - 29, 2010
The 2010 Rocky Mountain Rally is the second round of the Canadian Rally Championship, the second round of the Western Canada Rally Championship and the sixth event eligible for scoring points in the North American Rally Cup and is sanctioned by the Canadian Association of Rallysport.
"We wanted to keep the teams on real stages and show rally fans what rally action is truly about," said Routemaster Shawn Bishop. "Just like Race City at rush hour, The Jumpingpound stage is about an hour from downtown Calgary and is an excellent venue to show off the cars and what they can do."

L'ESTAGE AND RICHARD DOMINATE ROCKY MOUNTAIN RALLY
"It's awesome, I am very happy," said Antoine L'Estage at the finish of the rally. "We'd had some bad luck last year, and we hadn't won an event since Rallye Defi last September."
"The roads were super haywire this morning," said Nathalie Richard. "I had to take a gamble on the tires and take something different than Antoine to try to make time. It didn't work."

MANIWAKI, QUEBEC, FEB 5 - 6, 2010
The Perce Neige Maniwaki rally is the only winter event in the Championship. This rally, 45 years old, has always been very popular with the competitors. The long snowy roads used over the years have helped the event develop a great reputation with in the Canadian Rally Championship. Thus accessibility for the spectators has always been a little difficult. Often ran on forestry roads far from any major center, a fair amount of courage was required to overcome the snow and cold temperatures. The Perce-Neige, will not shy away from its usual forestry roads that have made its reputation, nevertheless it will adopt a format accessible to spectators, staying closer to Maniwaki.
