SUMMERTON WINS ON SATURDAY

Millville, N.J. (June 13, 2009) - Jonathan Summerton captured Saturday’s Atlantic Championship powered by Mazda race during the Formula X presented by Cooper Tires, one of ten total races at New Jersey Motorsports Park this weekend.

Summerton started from the pole in the No. 19 Genoa Racing machine and led flag-to-flag, stretching the final margin of victory to 7.334 seconds over Simona De Silvestro in the 38-lap race. Borja Garcia finished third.

"The car was great all the time," said Summerton, who earned his third career Atlantic Championship win. "We had a good start, and I just put my head down and tried driving away. Today’s a little bit of a practice for tomorrow, you learn a little more about the set-up and how to go forward from there."

De Silvestro will start from the pole for Sunday’s Atlantic Championship race at New Jersey Motorsports Park, with Summerton starting second. De Silvestro now owns the series points lead with her runner-up finish in the first of the weekend’s two races.
