RAHAL LETTERMAN ASSUMES MANAGEMENT OF FORMULA BMW AMERICAS

Dec 26, 2008/ Continuing to build upon a long and storied racing tradition, Rahal Letterman Racing announces today that the Ohio-based team will assume the management of the Formula BMW Americas series beginning on January 1, 2009.

The world's leading entry-level open-wheel racing series, Formula BMW provides young drivers with a safe, competitive and challenging car in which to hone their skills, while giving the youngsters exposure to many of the world top circuits and events. In 2008 the three Formula BMW series: Formula BMW Europe, Formula BMW Pacific and Formula BMW Americas, competed in the key motorsport markets of Europe and pan-Asia as well as in North and South America.

Today's announcement means that a single team will both partner with BMW of North America in the American Le Mans Series with its two BMW M3 racers and oversee the Formula BMW series in America.

"We are pleased to have found in Rahal Letterman Racing a professional, well integrated partner with great experience in US motorsport," commented BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen. "The Formula BMW races held in support of the ALMS will generate synergy effects in terms of PR, marketing and logistics. Lapwing Management already set the bar high last year as far as the organization of the series is concerned, and we thank them warmly for their work. The concept is also proving a success from a sporting perspective, as demonstrated not least by Alexander Rossi. The US driver recently backed up his Formula BMW Americas title triumph with victory in the Formula BMW World Final. We are hoping that the expansion of the race calendar into Mexico as part of the World Touring Car Championship event there will further increase interest from all the Americas in the line-up for 2009."

Four Formula BMW graduates, Nico Rosberg, Adrian Sutil, Sebastian Vettel and Timo Glock, were among the 20 drivers lining up in Formula One in 2008. Test and reserve drivers Christian Klien, Sébastien Buemi and Nicolas Hülkenberg added three more to the tally. In the US, IndyCar GP of St. Petersburg winner Graham Rahal was among the list of FBMW graduates that were racing competitively in American open-wheel series after having cut their teeth in the BMW FB02 racer.

"Formula BMW has long produced one of the finest entry-level open-wheel racing series in the world, and Rahal Letterman Racing is proud and excited about forging this new partnership with the series," said Rahal Letterman Racing co-owner Bobby Rahal. "We saw first-hand when my son Graham competed in the series that Formula BMW offers the complete package for the young driver, providing an affordable series with a level playing field that still exposes the drivers and teams to high-profile events and challenging circuits. When you add those benefits to the proven stewardship and support of BMW Motorsport, Formula BMW is easily the best choice for the young drivers that aspire to the higher levels of the sport."

One of the top entry-level open-wheel cars in the world, the FB02is powered by a 140 hp BMW engine that takes it to a top speed of up to 145 mph. It ranks among the safest vehicles in its category and exceeds the FIA safety regulations that govern this class of car. Innovations such as the FORS (Formula Rescue Seat) were developed by BMW Motorsport specifically for Formula BMW. Following Formula One, Formula BMW was the first single-seater series outside the US in which the HANS (head-and-neck-restraint system) system was made mandatory.

"With our worldwide Formula BMW concept, we offer drivers and teams a platform which, in this format, is unprecedented in a junior series and which allows them to benefit from our Formula One involvement," continued Dr. Theissen. "Through Formula BMW the drivers are equipped with the tools they need to assert themselves successfully in the world of professional motor racing."

Rossi's victory in this year's Formula BMW World Final in Mexico City represents the first time in the history of Formula BMW that a Formula BMW Americas champion has also won the annual showpiece of the Formula BMW season. Rossi's success earned him a test in a BMW Sauber F1 Team car. A season review of the 2008 Formula BMW Americas championship is scheduled to be broadcast on Speed TV on Dec. 28th, 6:00 pm ET.

2009 Formula BMW Americas schedule:
TBA
March 20-22 Puebla (MX, WTCC)
May 15-17 Miller Motorsports Park (US, ALMS)
July 17-18 Lime Rock Park (US, ALMS)
August 14-16 Road America (US, ALMS)
August 28-30 Mosport International Raceway (CAN, ALMS)
October 16-18 Brazilian Grand Prix (BR, F1)

Fresh from receiving his third ROC crown, Loeb said: "For sure, when you are on the start line, you want to win, but with this event there is not too much pressure. It's a very tight track and you have to give everything you can. I didn't get as much experience as some of the others, as I only did one ROC Nations Cup race, but it was a good weekend for me."

Despite finishing runner-up, Scotland's Coulthard was still smiling:
"The ROC is a totally unique event, and it's always a pleasure to take part, even if you don't win. I think there were some very exciting racing, and there's nothing quite like being able to see the whole track. It was a very entertaining afternoon for the British race fans, and I did my best to keep KTM busy by crashing a couple of their cars."

The Race was seen by millions live on many world networks. In North America it could by seen on a netcast on raceofchampions.com.

AUDI'S NEW DIESEL SPORTS CAR FOR LE MANS

Audi aims to demonstrate "Vorsprung durch Technik" specifically in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Audi is just one victory behind Ferrari in the French endurance classic's all time winners' list following its eighth victory last June. Only Porsche has more wins at Le Mans.

Audi targets the ninth victory in probably the world's toughest car race, in which the development of alternative and fuel-saving power concepts are the focus of attention, in June 2009 with a newly developed LMP1 sports car. The Audi R15 TDI differs significantly from its predecessor, the R10 TDI, at first glance and features many technically innovative details with which Audi aims to maintain its supremacy in Le Mans.

The new Le Mans prototype is equipped with a smaller, lighter and even more efficient TDI engine. During the chassis and aerodynamic development Audi Sport engineers followed similar routes to those exhibited on the current Audi A4 DTM.

"It was clear to us that we must develop a new car if we wanted to continue to be successful in Le Mans," explains Head of Audi Motorsport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich. "The Audi R15 TDI is the result. The step from R10 to R15 is significantly larger than it was from the R8 to the R10."

Only the basic concept was carried over from the predecessor model: The R15 TDI is also powered by a TDI engine and is an open-topped roadster. Audi does not wish to release any further details at this time.

The first private tests with the new Le Mans sports car are scheduled for later this year. The R15 TDI will only be presented to the public immediately before its race debut in the 12-hour race in Sebring (USA) on 21 March 2009.

Audi Sport Team Joest will field three new R15 TDI prototypes in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

MONTREAL F1 RACE OFFICALLY OFF

NOVEMBER 17, 2008/ Montreal
Quebec Premier Jean Charest, Montreal mayor Gerald Tremblay and Quebec provincial tourism minister Raymond Bachand, made the anouncements Sunday November 16th.

"Despite our endeavours and those of the business community, the unreasonable demands of Formula One exceeded the taxpayer's ability to pay," Montreal Mayor Gerald Tremblay said in a statement on the city's website.

Bernie Ecclestone had made a final offer on October 28 demanding that an eventual race promoter should put up a government or bank guarantee of some $175 million over the next five years. Montreal couldn't find a anyone to put up that kind of cash. Between all Government levels the could only come up with a little over $100 million.

Quebec economic development minister Raymond Bachand said "We cannot meet Mr Ecclestone's unworkable demands. Unless he eases his requirements and adopts a different approach, there will be no Grand Prix in Montreal in 2009. As I recently said; 'yes to a Grand Prix, but not at any price.'"

We might not have heard the end of this saga as the F1 manufacturers wont have any North American races to bring to their most lucrative markets.

AUDI RACING HAS BANNER YEAR

NOVEMBER 15, 2008/ Ingolstadt/Neckarsulm
"The victories on the race track allow the four rings to shine," declared Rupert Stadler. "We are proud to have won the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the American Le Mans Series and the Le Mans Series with the finest diesel technology and winning the DTM title has further emphasised the dynamic of our most successful model."

Michael Dick spoke of a "historical year" which will be difficult to beat, and explained just how important Audi's involvement in motorsport is. "The members of the board examine exactly how motorsport benefits us. Studies show that the brand's image is at the top when we are at our most successful in motorsport."

SCHEIDER, Timo (#10 / Audi Sport Team Abt Head of Audi Motorsport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich, who is manager of Audi Sport since November 1993, passed on the thanks expressed by the executive board to his employees and the Audi teams. "You have achieved something superhuman this year," he emphasised. "We are well represented with Joest and Champion Racing in sportscars and Abt Sportsline, Phoenix, Rosberg and Kolles as partner teams in touringcar racing. We sense the trust placed in us by the executive board. This is the greatest motivation for us to be successful."

#1 + #2 AUDI R10 TDI ON TRACK AT MOSPORT In addition to the victorious drivers from the 2008 season, Frank Biela and Emanuele Pirro were also honoured for their special services. The two oldest serving Audi drivers make space for younger drivers, announced, however, that they want to remain associated with Audi in the future. "Both have given an enormous amount to the Audi brand. For this reason I thank them sincerely in the name of the AUDI AG," said Dr Wolfgang Ullrich.

Audi officially completed 28 races last season with the Audi A4 DTM and the Audi R10 TDI. Timo Scheider took the DTM title together with Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline. Alexandre Premat, Mike Rockenfeller and the Audi Sport Team Joest won the European based Le Mans Series in Europe, Lucas Luhr, Marco Werner and Dave Maraj's team the American Le Mans Series. At the 24 Hours of Le Mans Dindo Capello, Tom Kristensen, Allan McNish and Audi Sport Team Joest recorded the third consecutive Le Mans victory for the Audi R10 TDI.

Audi announces the motorsport programme for the 2009 season on 28 November at the Essen Motor Show.

EMANUELE PIRRO RETIRING

OCTOBER 17, 2008/ Ingolstadt/Laguna Seca
Emanuele Pirro will race an Audi sports prototype for the last time in his career at the American Le Mans Series finale on 18 October at Laguna Seca. The Italian has served the brand since 1994 and is one of the most successful Audi factory drivers ever with three touring car titles, two sportscar championship victories in the American Le Mans Series and five wins in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

EMANUELE PIRRO Head of Audi Motorsport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich and the 46-year old Audi factory driver Emanuele Pirro had already reached an agreement some time ago about the end of the Italian's active career for Audi at the 2008 American Le Mans Series season finale. Included among Pirro's outstanding victories under the banner of the four rings are the Italian Touring Car Championship (1994 and 1995), the German Touring Car Championship (1996), the 24 Hours of Le Mans (2000, 2001, 2002, 2006 and 2007) and the American Le Mans Series (2001, 2005).

"On behalf of the Audi motorsport squad and the entire AUDI AG I would like to extend our thanks to Emanuele Pirro for the excellent and extremely successful cooperation over the last 15 years," explains Dr Wolfgang Ullrich of Pirro who became the first driver to be signed during his time as Head of Audi Motorsport since 1993. "Throughout this extraordinarily long relationship many personal experiences and great memories of fantastic individual race wins and championship victories with Audi touring and sportscar unite us still today."

"A wonderful chapter of my life and career comes to a close," explains Emanuele Pirro. "Even as hopeless optimist, at the very beginning I would never have dreamt of spending 15 such fantastic and wonderfully successful years with Audi on both a personal and professional level. I want to pass on my sincerest gratitude to Audi Sport and all the teams for who I have driven - ROC Competition, Audi Sport Italia, Team Joest and Champion Racing and also all my team mates during this time."

In order to nurture this prosperous and successful cooperation Audi has opened the possibility for Emanuele Pirro to act as brand ambassador in the future. Audi successfully implemented the rejuvenation of the sportscar programme driver squad in 2006 with the signing of Lucas Luhr (winner of the LM P1 class in the 2008 American Le Mans Series together with Marco Werner), Alexandre Premat and Mike Rockenfeller (joint winners of the Le Mans Series 2008) and continued it this year with races for Marcel Fassler and Christijan Albers.

An investment consortium led by Kuwaiti Islamic investment bank Bayt Al Mal Investments will bring a major motor-sport, entertainment and commercial complex to the Niagara region of Ontario and with it, additional foreign direct investment (FDI), jobs and tourists from across the US-Canadian border.

Looking ahead Shams Faiz, Chief Operating Officer at Bayt Al Mal Investments Officers stated, "Our aim is to be a GCC-Canada investment specialist and we will soon be announcing our 'Invest Canada' program that will open a number of well studied investment projects for our regional investors."

Bayt Al Mal has already acquired 623 acres of land in Fort Erie, six kilometers from the US-Canadian border, where this master-planned complex will be built.

MONTREAL F1 RACE DROPPED FROM CALENDAR

OCTOBER 7, 2008/ Was it the crumbling track as Felipe Massa discribed Circuit Gilles Villeneuve after the June 2008 race or is it another reason Montreal was dropped from the F1 Calendar.

"Terrible - by far the worst year," Massa said after the race. "For sure, if we come back here, they need to resurface the whole track."

No explanation was given by the Federation internationale de l'automobile as to the reason for dropping the Canadian race. Are they holding out for a bigger share of the pie, are they looking for a date change? - the new Calendar shows most of August free.

The final Calendar wont be released until December 2008. The one thing for sure is June 7th is out, that date has been awarded to the Grand Prix of Turkey.

The fact that Circuit Gilles Villeneuve officials have not released or explained any reasons for the cancellation means negotiations are probably still ongoing. The last time F1 "cancelled" the Montreal race was in 2004 over the tabacco advertising taboo, a little bit of cash got the race back on the schedule.
Last year, F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone demanded that the team paddocks and the media centre be expanded and modernized. Circuit Gilles Villeneuve accommodated with a $5.5 million facelift, and a new power supply for 2009 to replace generators used at previous races.
As per Quebec Economic Development Minister Raymond Bachand- "Mr. Ecclestone has been known to negotiate in a bizarre fashion"

Stay tuned, this will be an ongoing saga.

Here is the schedule as it sits now:

29 March Australia
 5 April Malaysia
19 April Bahrain
10 May Spain
24 May Monaco
 7 June Turkey
21 June Great Britain
28 June France
12 July Germany
26 July Hungary
23 August Europe (Valencia)
30 August Belgium
13 September Italy
27 September Singapore
11 October Japan
18 October China
 1 November Brazil
15 November Abu Dhabi

JIM KENZIE AND BRIAN BOURBONNIER CRASH HARD IN TARGA NEWFOUNDLAND

SEPTEMBER 16, 2008/ JIM KENZIE Jim Kenzie crashed hard at 160 km/hr on the 30 km stretch from the bluff at Leading Tickles on Tuesday. Kenzie and Bourbonniere veered off the course in their #107 Mini Cooper S 04 on the first leg after lunch. The crash sent them a couple hundred metres into woods, going end-over-end a few times.

There was a lone person on the side of the road holding up a red cross which indicates a medical emergency which Brian Bourbonniere passed to the spectator after walking up from a river looking ashen saying "someone has to get Jim out of the car." The car landed so deep in the foliage that couldn't be seen from the road.

Once out of the car Jim, was fine but shocked, and Brian his co-driver the same. They were taken to hospital and later released.

Both were seen the Tuesday evening back in the arena car show at Gander and they were making light of the crash, it was obviously a big one. Jim was showing the pictures of his red Mini, totally mangled, praising its FourStar Motorsports-built roll cage.

ALMS- CORVETTE RACING TO MOVE TO GT2

SEPTEMBER 9, 2008/ Corvette Racing announced Tuesday that it will enter GT2 starting in the second half of the 2009 American Le Mans Series.

PART OF THE ALMS CORVETTE RACING TEAM ARRIVING AT MOSPORT "We do not want to run in a class by ourselves again, and I doubt I could sell it to management again." Those were the words Steve Wesoloski, GM's Road Racing Group Manager about the challenges they'd face in gaining support to spend a third season without any serious competition in the American Le Mans Series GT1 class. After reaching out to rival and potential GT1 manufacturers on joining the rather thin ALMS race class. With no takers GM decided to take a new direction.

GM wasn't willing to spend the tens of millions of dollars required to build a prototype to fight the likes of Audi, Peugeot, and Acura. A step down one class to GT2 was the only logical choice for Wesoloski and his partners at Pratt & Miller Racing.

With Corvette Racing moving their efforts to wrestle Porsche and Ferrari from the top of the GT2 category, fans are in store for a great season next year, but the this change in the American GT landscape will take time for us to adjust to.

Let's hope this isn't the end for Gt2 in North America.

AUGUST 15, 2008/ The two Audi Sport North America team Audi R10 TDI prototypes are not just the only diesel cars in the high-calibre starting field of the US racing series - they are also equipped with state-of-the-art electronics which are becoming increasingly complex. At Mosport a new version of the tyre-pressure monitoring system will be used, which is also found in a similar form in Audi road cars.

"This is a very important safety aspect," explains Christian Weck, Project Leader for Le Mans Prototypes (LMP) at Audi Sport in Ingolstadt. "It is a great help that we can warn a driver if the tyre pressure is falling during a race. The new version runs at an even higher sample rate than before."

Here's the driver linup for the Audi R10's at Mosport:
#1 Dindo Capello/Emanuele Pirro
#2 Lucas Luhr/Marco Werner

Emanuele Pirro about Mosport: "Mosport is a fantastic circuit of the old-calibre which is steeped in history and happens to be one of my favourite circuits. All the corners are very fast. The track is very challenging for a driver. The Audi R10 TDI is very good at Mosport, even though you feel the high weight in the fast corners."

DAN AYKROYD TO BE GRAND MARSHALL AT MOSPORT ALMS RACE

AUGUST 14, 2008/ Dan Aykroyd has been named the grand marshall of next weekend's American Le Mans Series race at Mosport International Raceway and will be in charge of uttering the words that get things going - "Drivers, start your engines."

"I'm so nervous I can't even believe it," Aykroyd said Thursday with tongue firmly in cheek. "Now you've given me stage fright. I'm sure I'll stutter my way through it."

Aykroyd is the Canadian co-distributor and importer of Patron tequila, a sponsor in the series.

"They let you sling these old police cars around a track and show you things you didn't know you could do with a car," said Aykroyd. "I learned a lot in Hollywood - the J-turns, bootleg turns, flipping the car off the highway from behind."

"It's really very exciting," he said. "I was very honoured to be asked."

Come out to Mosport International Raceway August 21 - 24 to see the American Le Mans in action and catch a glimps of some great cars, great drivers, and maybe say hello to Dan Aykroyd.

NASHVILLE OFF INDYCAR CALENDAR

July 28, 2008/ Nashville Superspeedway officials announced today that they will not hold an IRL open wheel event in 2009.

"We're disappointed for all of the fans and sponsors of open wheel racing in middle Tennessee," said Cliff Hawks, Vice President and General Manager of Nashville Superspeedway. "Regrettably, the IRL has chosen to structure their sanction fees at such a level that we had no choice but to re-evaluate whether they fit into our plan. Regardless, we believe the IRL had no further interest in the middle Tennessee market. We are very grateful to Firestone and their support of the Firestone Indy 200 for the past seven years," Hawks said.

Nashville was the only concrete track on the IndyCar circuit, and drivers had been unhappy with the grip on the 1.33 mile oval for some time.

Dover Motorsports, Inc. had already ceased running IRL races at two of its other venues, Gateway International Raceway in St. Louis and Dover International Speedway in Delaware.

The Nashville event is to be replaced with the Andretti Green Racing owned Toronto Grand Prix. The Toronto IndyCar Race is slated for July 10, 11 and 12, 2009.

After four weekends of racing, Arek Wojciechowski (8legs Racing) leads in Super Touring Class driving his BMW followed by Nigel Krikorian (Krikorian Motorsports) in his Subaru and Andrew Wojteczko (Auto Analyser Racing) in his Lexas. FORMULA 1- SINGAPORE'S NIGHT RACE ON TRACK

July 22, 2008/ FORMULA 1's 1st ever night race is on track after all the safety concerns, such as night glare were addressed. Singapore's race is scheduled for September 28th.

"Safety is of utmost concern to us, thus great care has been taken to develop a lighting system that is bright enough for night race conditions, and at the same time will not cause any glare for the drivers," said race communications director Jonathan Hallett. "The lighting projectors have their internal reflectors positioned to specifically light the driver's path on the track. "In the event of heavy rain, the reflected light from the wet road surface will not cause glare as it will not be reflected into the driver's eyes."

One of the biggest concerns is the heavy rains that the area receives. The track could get flooded in a very short time and cause mayhem and destruction.

Also new in F1 are the use of electronic flag displays. For now the electronic displays will be in addition to the flag waving by trackside marshalls, but eventually could replace manual flag waving totally. The electronic displays will accommodate day, night and wet weather conditions with changing degrees of intensity.

The race will begin at 8:00 PM local time.

JACQUES VILLENEUVE ENTERED IN NATIONWIDE EVENT IN MONTREAL

July 18, 2008/ After a 1st place LMS win at at the SPA in Belgium and a 2nd place on the podium at the 24 HEURES DU MANS for Team Peugeot Total, Jacques Villeneuve is back in Montreal to take part in the NAPA Auto Parts 200 presented by Dodge.

The former Formula One champion will be one of three drivers entered in the race by Braun Racing. His crew chief is Todd Lohse, who guided Busch to victory in Charlotte.

This should be a good race for Villeneuve, he racing for a proven team on a circuit named for his dad, on which Jacques has had success on many occasions.

"It's always fun to have the opportunity to race for such a competitive team as Braun Racing with great people that show confidence in you," said Villeneuve. "It also adds to my pleasure to be in a car that hosted great pilots such as Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin."

All the best to Jacques on Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Rolfs Racing is rooting for him.

Tracy told The Canadian Press in a phone interview from Indianapolis."Not to the point of not finishing, but ... we're going to try to put ourselves up front, whether it's (through) fuel mileage or pit strategy."

Tracy is starting to come back onto the world stage after he was left without a ride this spring when his Forsythe team decided not to join the IndyCar circuit in the merged open-wheel series.

Just before the Edmonton anouncement, Tracy took part in the prestigious Goodwood Festival in Great Britain.

You couldn't imagine the emotions I was feeling inside." Congratulation to Lewis.

JAY HOWARD RETURNS TO ROTH RACING

July 1, 2008/ IndyCar driver Jay Howard will be back in the Roth Racing No. 24 machine for this weekends Camping World Grand Prix at Watkins Glen. He had a 5 week absence where his seat was filled by veteran John Andretti for the 92nd Indianapolis 500. Andretti continued in the car until now. With Howard having spent most of his carrer on road courses he will be a welcome addition to the cockpit again. Six of the remaining 9 IndyCar races are on a road or street course.

"All my background before I came to the U.S. and even the first four years racing in the U.S. was on what I would call a permanent track," said Howard. "I had never seen a street course or oval before 2006, so it's going to be a bit more like being at home for me. On the oval the car has been improved with what (engineer) Larry (Curry) brought to the team. I'm hoping that translates to the road course and we find more speed on the road course and everyone will be happy."

DINO CRESCENTINI

June 22, 2008/ It is with sadness we report the unfortunate death of Dino Crescentini of Rochester Hills, Michigan in his 1977 ex Giles Villeneuve Wolf Dallara Can-Am car at Mosport International Raceway at the VARAC Festival this Sunday.
Our thoughts and sympathies are with his family and friends at this trying time.
Inspector Paul Hamilton of the Durham Regional Police said, "The driver was heading northbound from corner six at Mosport. After this corner is a long straightaway and at some point his vehicle became airborne at an extremely high rate of speed and rolled end-over-end. The driver was transported to Bowmanville hospital where he succumbed to his injuries."
Dino will be missed.

GRAND-AM ROLEX DECIDED BY WEATHER

June 21, 2008/ As has happened too many times this year in the North Eastern United States and Eastern Canada, another sports car race has been decided by the weather.
Severe rain and lightning hampered the Emco Gears Classic Grand-Am Rolex Series race at Mid-Ohio. After an early full course yellow, and many spin outs, all the teams came in for rain tires.
Unfortunately the spin outs and crashes didn't stop after that. Makes you wonder about the rain tires supplied by Perelli. The Daytona Prototypes behaved more like Stock Cars than Sports Cars on the track, definitly not giving Perelli a good name.
The winners were Jon Fogarty and Alex Gurney for GAINSCO/ Bob Stallings Racing in their Pontiac Riley.
The GT winners were Leh Keen and Eric Lux for Farnbacher Loles Racing in the #86 Porsche GT3 Cup car.

PAUL TRACY TO RUN IN NASCAR CRAFTSMAN TRUCK

June 21, 2008/ Paul Tracy will race the #03 Germain Racing Toyota Tundra in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at the September 20th race in Las Vegas.
Tracy tested in a truck for Germain Racing last month in Chicago. Bob Germain will field Paul Tracy along with Todd Bodine, Justin Marks and Chrissy Wallace. Bodine currently is second in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship.
"I watch the Truck Series races and think to myself that this is some of the most exciting racing that I watch and I want to be a part of it,"an elated Tracy said. "I can't thank Bob Germain, Todd Bodine and Toyota enough for allowing me this opportunity to be a part of what they've built. I'll do whatever I can to help them win the championship and that's all I'm really after. Whether it's testing or running a race I don't really care because it's exciting just to be a part of a championship team and contribute in some capacity."
As for the IndyCar Series, Tracy could be back racing an open wheel car, if plans by Derrick Walker to field a car for him for next month's IndyCar race in Edmonton get finalized.

J.R. FITZPATRICK WINS AT MOSPORT

June 15, 2008/ In a final lap nail biter J.R. Fitzpatrick pulled a win out of his hat by passing D.J. Kennington and teammate Don Thomson Jr. to win the Dickies 200 presented by Lucas Oil at Mosport International Raceway.
After an already exciting race to lap 40 the sky began to turn and sprinkles of rain started. Don Thompson Jr. was the first to pull into the pits to put on rain tires at the expense of track position, everyone else waited. By lap 48 of the 51 lap race the sky opened up to a torential downpour. Most drivers ended up spinning out all over the track and Don Thompson Jr. in his Home Hardware Chevrolet regained his track position.
After a lengthy full course yellow were most teams came in to change to rains, the race was finished with a green- white- checker. D.J. Kennington and Don Thomson Jr. ended up 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The next Canadian Tire Series race is on June 28, 2008 at Barrie (Ont.) Speedway for the A&W 300.

Following on from team-mate James Hinchcliffe's Champ Car Atlantic victory at Laguna Seca last month, Wickens had a superb weekend at Silverstone. He took pole position and the win in Sunday's main event, in what was his seventh race in the 425bhp single-seater series.
Although he made a poor start, thanks to a series of quick laps he got back in the lead following the round of mandatory pit stops. He then held on until the flag to take the win, his first of any kind since winning A1GP Durban, South Africa's Sprint race in February.
"I'm so happy to have won here," Wickens said, afterwards. "I didn't get the best start, but I knew we had a lot of pace in the car so I just tried to make up as much time as I could. "I was pushing really hard before the pit stop. I was being closed on in the final stages, but I was driving within myself and didn't want to make a mistake. I'm really pleased that I was finally able to show what I am capable of in this series."

Pole sitter Lewis Hamilton retired after a pit lane crash early on in the race.
As a result of his first win, Kubica now leads the world championship fight with 42 points to Hamilton and Massa's 38 and Raikkonen's 35.
This year is beginning to build in excitement, after the dull years of Schumacher's and Ferrari's dominance.

LEWIS HAMILTON CLAIMS POLE FOR MCLAREN-MERCEDES IN CANADA

June 7, 2008/ Lewis Hamilton posted a 1:16.909 to get the pole for the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday June 8th, beating BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica into second place by over half a second. Kimi Raikkonen was the leading Ferrari driver in third, while Renault's Fernando Alonso and Williams's Nico Rosberg scored made fourth and fifth places. Don't miss what promises to be an exciting race on Sunday.

PRACTICE 2 AT CANADIAN GRAND PRIX

June 6, 2008/ The second practice on the Ile Notre Dame was dominated by defending winner Lewis Hamilton. He managed to come in with a lap speed of 1:15.752. in his McLaren-Mercedes. Robert Kubica of BMW Sauber posted the second best speed of 1:16.023 on friday afternoon. the 3rd place was taken by Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen with a time of 1:16.093.

Lewis Hamilton said after fridays practices, "It's great to be back in Montreal, the scene of my first Grand Prix victory one year ago. We chose not to use our allocation of wet tires for the majority of the opening session but managed a run on dry tires towards the end of the morning. In the afternoon, we were able to improve the car on every run - I felt very comfortable with the set-up and balance, particularly when we switched to the option tire, which allowed me to lean on the car as the track conditions improved. We've still got some work to do ahead of qualifying and the race, but we've already got some positive running under our belts."

BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica had this to say after the practices. "We had a very busy afternoon, after losing quite a bit of time in the morning due to the damp track. We ran a very comprehensive programme in the second session, trying a lot of different things on the car's set-up. The grip level is still very low, which makes the car quite nervous. However, we were also able to do the tire comparison, so we have a good base to start with for tomorrow."

MASSA ON TOP AT CANADIAN GRAND PRIX

June 6, 2008/ Felipe Massa posted the fasted lap in his Ferrari on a wet track in the first practice session at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal this friday. He achieved a 1:17.553 second lap on the 4.361 km Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve.

The 90 minute paractice session began in the rain, but the track was mostly dried out by the end of the session.

MAX MOSLEY WINS VOTE OF CONFIDENCE

June 3, 2008/ Max Mosley kept his job as FIA president when he won a secret ballot vote 103 in favour and 55 against, with seven abstentions and four invalid votes.

This decision threatens to divide the FIA with the larger clubs being opposed to Mosly staying on. Todays vote lets Mosley stay on as president until October 2009, when his fourth term was due to end. The German motoring federation ADAC, Europe's largest automobile organization, said it has frozen all its activities with the FIA. That could affect the Germany's possibility of holding the German Grand Prix, a FIA-sanctioned F1 event. "ADAC will stay with its decision as long as Max Mosley holds the top FIA office of president," it said in a statement.

The German, American, Japanese, French, Australian and Spanish auto federations all voted against Mosley, with the federations from Finland, Canada and Sweden and 21 other club members publicly coming out against Mosley. American Automobile Association president Robert Darbelnet did not rule out the possibility of forming a separate body to guard the interests of motorists worldwide.

We, at Rolf's Racing think the 68 year old should resign before he creates major rifts in the autosports world. He is showing a flagrant disregard for all motorsports organizations by staying on.

Today the FIA also showed that it holds very low regard towards its female members and female motorsports fans by allowing a man of Mosley's character to continue to have a voice in the sport we all love.
